The European Commission has published a Guide to the EU-US Privacy Shield, the mechanism that replaces the gap left by the Safe Harbor scheme and allows the transfer of data from the EU to USA. It can found at this link: http://ec.europa.eu/justice/data-protection/document/citizens-guide_en.pdf.
The Guide provides general information regarding the EU-US Privacy Shield as well as the obligations of the companies that are part to the mechanism and the rights of the persons whose data are processed.
US companies that are part of the Privacy Shield are featured on a list on the website of the Department of Commerce – the authority responsible for managing and administering the mechanism and ensuring companies live up to their commitments (https://www.privacyshield.gov/welcome). The list gives details of the type of personal data that are processed and the services that are offered.
